PIA plane crashes near Karachi airport

PIA passenger plane coming from Lahore to Karachi crashed near Karachi Airport with 91 passengers and seven crew members on board.

PIA passenger plane was coming from Lahore to Karachi when it crashed in a residential area in Model colony adjacent to Jinnah International Airport shortly before landing. The incident also destroyed several houses, triggering a stampede in the area.

The crashed flight was operated exclusively on the occasion of Eid. The flight took off at 1:10 pm and reached Karachi on time. However, the flight lost contact with the control room just moments before landing. The plane crashed at 2:37 p.m. According to civil aviation sources, the plane lost contact with the air control radar at 2:37 p.m and later Captain informed the air control tower about the malfunction in the landing gear of the plane.

According to a PIA spokesman, the plane was not very old and was about 10 to 11 years old, the plane was fully maintained, so it would be premature to say anything about a technical glitch.

PIA emergency call center active

According to a PIA spokesperson, PIA's emergency call center has been activated and PIA's operational employees have been called on duty. Information will be shared with the media as soon as it is received. According to civil aviation sources, civil aviation stopped air operations in Karachi after the plane crash, PIA stopped air operations from different cities Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar and Quetta.

The pilot called air traffic "May Day"

According to sources, the plane suffered a technical malfunction and the tires of the plane were not opening shortly before landing, while the pilot of the plane had also called the traffic control 'May Day'. An audio recording of the last contact between the pilot and the traffic control tower also came to light, in which the pilot reported an engine failure and later made a 'May Day' call.

Bank of Punjab President Zafar Masud was safe

Miraculously, Bank of Punjab President Zafar Masud survived the plane crash and was shifted to a private hospital where he was given medical treatment. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah visited Bank of Punjab President Zafar Masud, who survived the plane crash, at a private hospital.

The lucky airhostess of the ill-fated plane

The airhostess named Madiha Iram was supposed to go on duty in the plane but at the same time the duty roster was changed and Madiha Iram was stopped. In place of Madiha Iram, airhostess Anam Maqsood was sent in the plane and Anam Maqsood died in the unfortunate plane.
